How to improve VNC speed with Mac OS 10.4 Remote Desktop.
Controlling a remote Mac with Chicken of the VNC, can be very tedious on slow network connection. To speed thing up, I found the following setting most effective:
- Thousands of colors instead of the default Millions.
- Zlib Encoding
These recommendations are based on the following software versions:
- Mac OS 10.4.11 on both local and remote Macs
- Chicken on the VNC 2.0b4
- IPSecuritas 3.2
- Linksys RV042 Firmware Version: 1.3.12.6-tm with payload compression
